Dave,

Awesome shot of a tough target. You sure kno whow to tease every bit of detail out of your shots and sets the bar for the rest of us.

Awesome! Great detail and processing. I really like the swarms of galaxies in the background.

Nice detail.

This was going to be my target for our planned trip to Haleakala on March 1st but the Ferry wasn't running.

Is there no Blue in this image?

Wow! Mike, you've made great strides up the learning curve. Keep up the great work.

I love the way you have squeezed out every photon the DSI can capture. This is a very good shot and I know you have worked hard to get this looking so good!

There are a lot of detail in m51 and also there are a lot of other galaxies there that you could classify. The resolution of your optics are excellent. thanks for this fun picture.

You are up to 60 seconds. Give M1 more frames. That should give even more detail. Keep up the rapidly improving work.

Thanks Bob.

Yeah, this one was a challenge. It seems to demand the most from your autoguiding and I had a little trouble with it that night. But I managed to save a good deal of the data.

Thanks. I just picked up a focal reducer, which will take my refractor from f/7 to f5.6 and should take care of the oval stars in the outer portions of the image. I amplanning to try this object again, and plan totake a lot more shots (I threw away8x90s). I would like to increase the individual exposure times, but I am not sure how far I can go without guiding.

Great image Peter - I know how much you like 31, and this picture really came out great. Lots of detail in the dust lanes filling the entire frame! Awesome!

Hey Terry. . .you say that the images "didn't align properly". Did you actually use alignment software and it failed? What package did you use?

Thanks guys! I'm really happy with this image as it's the culmination of almost a solid week of nights in my back yard learning and tweaking my system. . .all of which helped me nail this image at TDS on Friday night. My last remaining obstacle is PEC on my Gemini 4. That stubbornly refuses to work properly, but once I figure that out I should get smaller stars! I couldn't be happier with this RCOS scope :) :) :) :)

I have one image of it on here, you can search for it under NGC6946. My image prompted Leo to image it. Leo read that it is a Very frequent Super Nova producer and decided to image it frequently to see if he could catch one. Too bad Leo doesn't post more of his images here.

Very Nice Image. You got a Wow from me when I opened it.

Peter, these images are stunning. You are one of the best at planetary images. I'd like to see what you could do with that Canon you picked up on DSO's.

That looks like Officer Point. I used to take pictures of the Full Moon rising over the lagoon from the second floor there with the Palm Trees framing the picture. If I'm right, then Cannon Point is to the right. I went out on the reef at midnight during a negative 6 foot tide and walked most of the way out to the islands at the entrance to the lagoon, then I swam back to officer point. That was one of the most scariest moments in my life.

I used to ride my bike past there during the Tip to Tip bike race. That's right where the pavement starts at the South tip.

We would ride a LCMacross the lagoon and they'd drop us off atthe un-civilized North-East tip.

After riding the unpaved road over sand, palm leaves and coconuts, and the huge holes from the Coconut Crabs, my butt was so sore I wanted to walk home, but I wasn't even half way there yet!

That's correct Carey - right across from the refinery. The showroom was not huge, but the selection of high end equipment was impressive.

Hey I've been there. On the way to Whidbey Island, up on the hill on the left. Great view of the Texaco refinery that almost prevented me from seeing my first and still only view of an Aurora. Not as much telescope equipment actually on display as I expected, but there was a used Losmandy mount that was calling my name.
